Powerhouses Handle Business, Some Barely Escape
Every Friday night brings pressure from the lights, cameras, and that moment where every rep in the offseason either shows up or folds you up. This week, the nation’s Top 25 squads laced up and left no doubt why they stay on the map.
#1 St. John Bosco (CA)
The Braves continue to set the tone, taking down No. 9 Santa Margarita 27–14. Another clinic from a team that moves like a college program. These boys are disciplined, detailed, and dangerous on all sides of the game.
#4 IMG Academy (FL)
IMG rolled through East St. Louis, 38–14. That roster full of D1 futures looked exactly how you’d expect, mad efficient and explosive.
#12 Mater Dei (CA)
The Monarchs bounced back big this week, putting bta on JSerra Catholic 40–7. They needed that one too and they took full advantage.
#15 DeMatha Catholic (MD)
In one of the week’s wildest finishes is this one right here. DeMatha edged by St. John’s (DC) 23–20 in overtime. That WCAC rivalry always gets personal and boy this one lived up to it the hype.
#20 Bixby (OK)
Oklahoma’s most consistent juggernaut didn’t play around either, dropping a massive 92–0. We not even gonna say the name of the other squad… it was just downright embassing. This type of statement game will make the other boys decide to switch sports or give up sports altogether. Them boys should have stayed home on this one.
#21 Cass Tech (MI)
Now this, Detroit squad showed up and locked in another division title. Cass Tech came in and beat King 35–19 to set their selves up nice for the playoffs. Classic Michigan ball, and a statement to the city that the Technicians still got it. (imagine being named the Technicians tho).
The playoff energy is here and you can feel it everywhere. The big dogs separating themselves from the pack yet again and the sleepers are getting hot at the right time. Bosco and Mater Dei got that heavyweight collision coming up too in Cali, can’t wait to see this one and down South you got IMG still looking untouchable.
The pressure is on and we will see which program is about that business.
